Grammar is one of the most underrated skills we use in everyday life. Do you ever get frustrated with the way people text and email? Grammar is a key component in the English language. Improving grammar is easier than people think because it is used in everyday life. People who have better grammar can tend to get into jobs that are more professional to their choosing. Grammar can also show how professional someone can be. Every job is based on the first judgement in an interview, email, or application. Grammar can give anyone a good reputation or bad reputation depending on how well they take the job. People use grammar everyday but still will not know the difference between “there,” “their,” and “they’re” or “your” and “you’re.” Grammar is the most valuable thing someone has to their reputation. It has become a small part of everyone’s life but it is not too late to improve grammar skills.

 

        Professionals have been known to give great arguments about grammar. Kyle Weins, owner of Ifixit.com, and Susan Adams, a writer of Forbes Magazine, make up great points in their arguments about grammar. Susan Adams starts off with great points which have to deal with emails and the younger generations bringing improper grammar into the workplace and bosses getting uptight about employees not being able to use correct grammar. Grammar can change and issues may come up because generations are more focused on one unique grammar way. Grammar can show how intelligent someone is, it can also show respect when replying to someone in a conversation (Adams). When someone uses incorrect grammar, it shows how sloppy they can be. Weins said he is the man who gave grammar tests to anyone who applies for a job in his company. Grammar is important to Weins because it can show who they are. If someone is sloppy and doesn’t really care, then they are the ones with a lot of grammatical errors (Weins). He says that grammar can show who someone is really is without them being present. In his company, someone can have everything Weins is looking for but if they don’t know the difference between “it’s” and “its” then they are not good enough because grammar can mean so much in any business. Grammar is important because it’s like a reputation when someone speaks or types their reputation is on the line just like Kyle Weins said. No matter what you can do, if you don’t know the difference between their, there, and they’re then you will be judged and that goes for any type of grammar error. Using correct grammar shows how proper a person can be because it shows how intelligent they are.

 

        Communication skills are needed in every career. Grammar is a major part in every career along with spelling and punctuation. In the medical field, spelling and grammar are key in any career chosen because staff and patients will need to know what is being said. Having a clear voice and being able to analyze or understand what is being asked or said is also a great communication skill to have in any medical job. The medical field also calls for reading skills such as notes, chart, information on a specific body part that is necessary to the procedure, and medical terminology. Giving a clear understanding of what is going on and what is happening is also a good communication skill because the patient may ask more information about his or her problem. Writing emails and tips or diagnoses to the patient can be required in any career, especially neurosurgeons, in the medical field.

 

        Having communication skills and grammar skills are important in any career. Developing these skills may take time and may have to have more practice than other skills. My strengths that have already risen would be listening and communication media. These skills can be simple and easy to do when working at retail stores or customer service jobs. Speaking to others may be hard to people but can come easy to those who talk and interact with people on a daily basis.  Every strength comes with a weakness which for any career it is critical to have excellent writing skills. Most students and graduates have trouble because of their grammar and comprehension skills. Each strength and weakness can be improved by communication. Speaking first and answering questions you are asked can help me improve my communication skills as well as talking to strangers in public when I pass by them. Engaging in conversation and starting a conversation are also great ways to improve the skills needed in the medical field.

 

        Grammar is a big part of communication skills and can help people see what skills have to be improved in order to help become grammar experts. Most communication skills can be easy or hard; However, it depends on their way of interaction whether it is being outgoing or shy that may make it easy or hard. In every career, people will need to have excellent grammar in order to have a professional job. Grammar is important to all careers because it shows how professional the employees are as well as the company. Reputation is mostly about grammar when it comes to the reputation of big businesses and career fields. The next time someone makes a grammar error, correct them because it can build reputation and also grammar and communication skills. Grammar is a big part of everyone’s life because it can “make or break you” as people like to say. The way people type is the way he/she talks and no business wants a bad reputation.
